Foundation Fridays: Meet Robert Seiwell!

on Fri, 05/18/2012 - 10:29
Untours Foundation Board Member Bob Seiwell with his grandson, Jake

Bob Seiwell is forever shaking his head while smiling as he sits at Untours Foundation board meetings. It's not that we don't follow the law, it's more that Hal is guided by an internal compass while the law is something that just doen't enter his mind -- ever! Many of us are inspired to follow Hal's lead. But Bob keeps us -- and Untours -- on the straight and narrow despite ourselves.

Here's more on Bob..........

How did you meet Hal and Norma? Hal needed a lawyer to fix something he did because he didn’t need a lawyer.

Untours Curtis apartment vacation rental, Budapest, Hungary

Staying in our Curtis apartment keeps you right in the middle of everything, so sights like the St. Stephen Basilica, the Synagogue and the State Opera House are within walking distance along the iconic Andrassy Avenue. With such a central location in the V. The oldest passion play in Europe: not where you might think

Music, Gustav Kahn, Tyrolean Music Festival, Untours, Austria
One could hardly be blamed for thinking that Oberammergau, in Germany is the oldest Passion Play in the world.  It is certainly the most famous.  But, tucked away in a beautiful little village on the Bavarian-Tyrolean border is one that is much older. This year is its 400th year.

The village of Erl, with fewer than 1500 inhabitants,  tucked along the German-Austrian border, with emerald green pastures and picture-perfect houses is the embodiment of the idyllic Tyrolean idyll.

Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Wachau, Hurtigruten
Jim and Kathy Snyder went to Prague, Budapest and Vienna in 2011.  Here are their impressions.

Tell us a little bit about your most recent Untour.

We went to all three cities and they were all great in their own way.

Prague highlights were

  • The Charles Bridge (We could walk there in five minutes from our fantastic apartment, the Vlasska),  We didn't need our host landlady for anything, as Alena your staff person in Prague had us super well prepared, but we got the feeling she was very happy to help if we needed it.
  • The Jewish Quarter
  • The Konopiste Chateau  ( about an hour outside Prague, and
